Rekey Locks

Schlage BE365 Rekey

To rekey the Electronic Deadbolt is not too difficult. Is remove the inside plate, inside cover. Remove the cover, disconnect the battery. A nine-volt battery, very simple. And you have to disconnect the outside of the lock. This is just simple, pull it apart. And you have to get that straight so we can feed it through. Hold the outside lock in place. And you are going to carefully lead this through. And you remove the lock. So we still got a few more procedures here.

And remember our programming code label. The older versions just take a Phillips screwdriver. The new ones, they went to torques. So there are a few more bits and pieces here. Let’s just get our torques. Remove six screws, take this off. And this comes out. And look at where we are. Our tailpiece is horizontal to the plug. So let’s remove the cylinder. And it is easy to go back in, you know which way. There’s the bible, and the tailpiece is horizontal. And we remove that little plastic piece. Remove that and that. Lay things out as you’re taking ’em out so you know. And the end cap is quite simple. To know how to re-key this, check out our other videos. We have lots of re-keying videos.

One of the most important thing when you put this back together again is to make sure the tailpiece is horizontal. That is one of the biggest mistakes people make. Some of these you can make the tailpiece go the wrong way. Some of them are idiot-proof, they only go together with one way. Make sure you put it on, and then we have to put in our spacer, that little piece there, and our plastic piece. Make sure those are all back in, spacer as well.

This is easy, it only goes in one way. I have the tailpiece in the back there. Re-install it there. It can be a bit difficult getting the tailpiece in the little other tailpiece, and then this just goes together, and we will put in our six torque screws. I will speed this part up again. So, just get each one started. Try not to crimp the wire.

You have to be careful using the electric screwdriver. You do not want to cross thread. Okay, attach the communication bus, some people call that. Put the battery back in. Make sure you do not crimp any cables when we put the cover on. Machine screws, not wood screws. Here is the key.
